Direct Support Professional

We’re looking for Direct Support Professionals to join our team! As a DSP, you will provide support and guidance to people served as they learn and develop important daily living skills and life activities to live as independently as possible.
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will support people in learning the skills needed to increase their independence in areas of life such as community involvement, job skills, education, personal health, and daily living skills.
What Will You Do:
- Assist with daily tasks/chores like cooking, cleaning, medication management
- Support/Promote and teach individuals to practice and maintain good hygiene
- Run errands such as shopping and going to appointments
- Encourage and foster individuals’ hobbies and interests
- Provide habilitation & documentation
- Follow health & safety protocols
- Ensure Individuals’ needs are met while preserving their dignity and personal choice
- Provide day-to-day care to Individuals residing in their own homes
- Assist and guide Individuals in budgeting funds (this includes shopping or other activities involving money management)
- Assist Individuals in participating in and planning social and recreational activities
- Complete and maintain all documentation required on a web-based system that employees will be trained on
- Monitor program compliance and progress with the Individual Service Plan
- Provide a safe living environment to meet the individual needs
- Effectively communicate with the Team
- Establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships
- Regular and strong attendance
- May attend Individual Service Planning meetings (ISP)
- Administer medication as scheduled to Individuals and monitor health changes
- Other duties as assigned
What You Will Need:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license and current auto insurance
- Reliable vehicle to transport during shift
- Pass all background checks
- Full range of motion, physical strength, and the ability to achieve and maintain training and certifications

- Lifting (under 25 lbs) and carrying equipment/material as required

Shared Living Provider
Job Category: Residential

Job Location: Omaha/Lincoln, NE
Goshen looks for individuals that are caring and supportive and who have extra room available in their homes. It is preferred that the Shared Living provider have some experience with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, but it is not a requirement. Applicants with backgrounds in human services, medical services, education, or counseling usually make great Shared Living providers.
Our goal is to create the best match possible between the subcontractor and the person desiring support. Contractors must agree to a 12-month contract with the individual. However, it is hoped that the relationship will last much longer. Goshen ensures that the Shared Living provider meets all regulatory requirements and provides training to provide quality services and support.
What Is Required to Become an SLP?
- Must be 19 years of age or older
- Complete an initial interview with Goshen staff
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance with reliable transportation
- Successful completion of background checks
- Social Security Card
- Proof of homeowner’s insurance or renter’s insurance
- Proof of current pet vaccinations
- You have to be willing to take behavior participants (Property damage, kicking, elopement, substance usage, and more.. etc..)
- Certificates for any previously completed training
- Physical exam and TB test
- Residence walk-through to ensure a safe and comfortable environment
- Complete necessary training
- Strong desire to support another person to succeed and live a good life
What Training Is Provided by Goshen?
- CPR and First Aid
- Medication Aide Training
- MANDT Training
- Orientation to supporting people with developmental disabilities
- Documentation Training on the Therapy database
- Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation training
Major Responsibilities of a Shared Living Provider
- Provide a safe and supportive living environment
- Complete daily documentation as required by Goshen and the State of NE
- Administer medications and complete treatments as ordered by a physician
- Accompany the individual to doctor’s visits, providing support to make healthy lifestyle choices, and helping them to achieve a full and healthy life
- Attend team meetings for the individual
- Communicate with others involved in the individual’s team regularly about their health and well-being
- Participate in a monthly check-in visit to your home by Goshen staff
- Ensure the person’s other needs are met, including hygiene, recreation, spiritual and social activities, and involvement
- Teach, support, protect, and advocate for the person
Reimbursement to Shared Living Subcontractors
Goshen pays Shared Living subcontractors for providing habilitative services and support. We offer a competitive rate. The contract amount is based on the person’s individual authorized budget amount.
